Pen Academic encourages the sharing of source data in order to increase transparency and reproducibility in scientific research. In this context, it recommends that authors clearly declare access information about the datasets they use in their studies.
Authors may submit a data sharing statement with the manuscript submission that includes the following information:
- Where the datasets used in the research are stored (institutional archives, open databases, personal storage areas, etc.),
- Access links to the relevant datasets (permalinks if available, DOI numbers),
- Conditions of access to the data (open access, access on request, subject to ethical or legal restrictions, etc.),
- Scope of data shared: raw data, analysis results, codes, images, surveys, etc.
If data cannot be shared for legal, ethical or confidentiality reasons, this should be clearly stated in the text, along with a justification.
Our data sharing policy is shaped in line with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Within this framework, authors are encouraged to present their data in appropriate formats and share them together with the necessary metadata.
Data sharing is critical not only for the scientific community, but also for the production of knowledge for the benefit of society and the development of research ethics.
